Title: HIGHEST MILEAGE
Post by: frank einstein on 20 October, 2009, 12:25:50 PM
Curious as to how many miles/kilometers some of you have put on your "Biffer". Would be interesting to see who has the highest  to report and what year your bike is. I guess I am really trying to find out just how long the engine in this bike can run. I am a newbie and my bike only has 9000 kms. :465:

My Biff is a 2008 bike and due to injuries I've only managed 2000 miles this year .. and just had another operation so the bike is now off the road till 2010 .. not a good year for me. Overall ..... "Betty" has 6400 miles on the clock.

My GT has just under 7000 miles and that has basically been racked up in 4 1/2 months. It was new in December 2008 but I work at sea so only ride when at home. Did from UK to south of France this summer and covered 763 miles in one day , lets say we may have infringed the National speed limits on occassion but the bike never missed a beat. I reckon the fact that these are low reving engines compared to some marques and the torque one has low down you do not need to hammer them to get them moving. They should roll up adecent milage before needing a rebuild, just a shame about the alternator failure rates, just spoil this great bike.
Keep her serviced and oil changed as per manual and she will do you a good few years.

Change the oil regularly, replace the odd alternator and this engine will see some of us out, at least until we give up riding :oldie:  Don't think longevity will be a problem for a well service bike.

I've done a tad over 11,000 miles in two years.

My last three bikes (all Hondas but not Biffers) did well over 19,000, 25,000 and 65,000 before trade in and they were not half the engine the Blade derivative is.

Well actually thatís not entirely true the 25,000 was on a CB500 and that is half the engine the Blade is - the middle two cylinders, as I recall!

My point is that I fully expect to need an excuse to get rid of the Biffer way, way, before I really need to. A motor like that may have the odd wobble (alternators seem the only one found so far and thatís not happened to everyone) but we are many light years away from the Ďride it one weekend Ė fix it the nextí world that some folks round here grew up in!

In its 170bhp form with boy racers on board it seems pretty bomb proof so our version with a less manic tune should hold for a long old time!

mines just a baby - 10k trouble free miles since new in Feb.

nbells - sorry to hear that. I smashed my shoulder up nearly 3 years ago (coming off a bicycle at c30mph  :087:) then spent 3 months in unimaginable pain with an undiagnosed dislocated shoulder.

Got it rebuilt with Titanium enhancements and it is nearly as good as new now - only had about 50% use until I started swimming/ excercising it in the pool and that made a massive improvement. Good luck with it.

Hi,
Big gap in this post. I bought a 2011 mk2 CBF-F in 2018. Had 39,000km when bought. Now has 79,000km 😃
I will be riding this well into the next century of km's.

We're all interested in wall mileage for the CBF 1000. Having read this thread and the two threads linked by Bifferman I'm disappointed in what some think or pass off as high mileage. Has nobody, apart from the courier we all know and love, got a CBF 1000 with more than 60,000 miles (96,000 Km) on the clock?

I see three on Autotrader Bikes (https://www.autotrader.co.uk/bike-search?sort=price-asc&postcode=nw107ud&radius=1500&make=HONDA&model=CBF1000&minimum-mileage=50000) at 51,000, 55,000 and 58,000 miles and a 53,000 and 60,000 miler on Fleabay. Which is not great news because mine will hit that wall inside of the next 12 months.

Have all the real high mileage (60,000+ miles, 96,000 Km) CBF 1000's gone to the knackers yard?

My 2009 model, 76K and counting, she still runs beautifully and she has only let me down once with the usual stator problem..... :152:

At last and thanks for posting bobbo123 your 75,000+ miler passes for high mileage in my book. Also of interest with such mileage on a CBF 1000  would be to know if the valve clearances have ever been checked? If so at what mileages and what clearances, if any, were found to be outside of Honda specification?.

Colleague at work with 140,000 uses it everyday to commute 120m  to work....one of the reasons I bought one!

Another proper high mileage report, we assume your colleagues 140,000 miles is on a SC64, yours is an SC58. They're much the same but a little different on the emissions front, the SC58 is Euro 3 and the SC64 is Euro 4.

Any chance of putting some meat on the bones here. We want to know the likes of at what mileages the valve clearances were checked and what clearances, if any, were found to be outside of Honda specifications. Also any other repairs or work that was done other than the usual maintenance items.
