Title: What is this any ideas?
Post by: Art on 23 March, 2020, 06:29:59 PM
I found it on the bike lift. I know what it is, its an aluminium spacer, 15mm wide x 10mm thick with a 10mm hole. So I'm really asking where's it form?

Any ideas?

Anything loose/rattling? 10mm hole suggests it could have been securing something important  :027: Ed.

Nothing loose and nothing rattling, that would have been too easy. I'm thinking I've re-fitted something without the spacer, something I  removed and didn't notice there was a spacer.

Make a list of the jobs you've done and check the parts diagram for any spacers and go back through the task to check all is as it should be?

I note that there are two of those. Did you remove the other side? If so, is that one missing too?  :138:

Well spotted Terry, yes there are two of everything exhaust silencer related on the SC58. The spacer and washer come off with the bolt and normally I'd leave them that way until re-fitting. I remember now dropping the washer (and spacer) when refitting, schoolboy error didn't check what was what and just re-fitted the bolt with the washer. Before I found the spacer I did notice there was more bolt thread protruding on the right than the the left, thought it odd but didn't look any closer. When I found the spacer I didn't connect the two, schoolboy error No2.
