Title: Givi Crash Guards
Post by: Capnvini on 05 April, 2016, 04:57:40 AM
I just installed Givi crash/engine guards on Wife's 2012 CBF1000. Install was okay. A little fiddling around get things figured out and lined up. Had to cut and modify the cross font piece a bit to make it fit in itself. (Givi!) Looks ok. Did not install the Givi plastic bits.

They look pretty good  I happen to have the same year / model / color bike. Have considered crash bars...still considering.  I've got 18000 km on it now and remains very trouble free.  nice all around bike.

Yes a very well mannered bike with a decent bit of punch when you want it. Being Chief of maintenance I find excuses to ride it. Its so smooth I get spoiled on it. The guards were insurance for my wife having a parking lot drop or such. They look ok and don't stand out too much. You ever to Vancouver Is. look us up. Enjoy

Just to add the to that. The wife was coming around the back of my bike at a gas station and hit my side bag on my bike and was immediately down. She was fine, just embarrassed and feeling bad for her baby. The guards did everything they were supposed to. There were a couple scratches on the guard and on her side pannier and that was it. A couple dobs of black paint and you never even knew it happened.
Worth the purchase right there.

Cheers all,
Vince

They look very sturdy and don't really spoil the cool appearance of the bike co they match the black engine casing well...  I guess they also protect your knees and legs fairly well too?

I went for the R&G crash bungs on mine but haven't tested them yet thankfully!

My used bike came came with these Givi guards. On close inspection I see the rear mounting bolt is barely threaded where it exits on the right side. Stock bolts too short? FJR crash guards came with longer replacement bolts so wondering if PO picked these guards up used and missing some pieces? To late to ask him now.
