With aftermarket (shorty) levers, does the steering turn full lock without interference on the fairing, screen or petrol tank?

I rejected Barkbusters because of the manufacturers fitting instructions

The handguard will touch the windscreen. To reduce the interference, drill an additional hole in the black plastic L Bracket to relocate the handguard 15mm closer to the handlebar.
The handlebar also needs to be rolled back 5-10mm.

I didn't think there was enough clearance inside the guards to accommodate the standard levers, rolling the bars back will cause the switch gear to knock on the petrol tank and I have an extra switch on the left bar too which would restrict the Barkbuster bar mount.

i put barkbustres on with a little bit cut out for the brake cables, wont protect form very heavy rain but otherwise does the job

Hence the requirement for the 'Oxford Bone Dry' muffs  :016:

Although I must say the hand guards gave some protection against the rain, just one change of gloves from the JTS leather winter to Frank Thomas Aqua textiles, was all that was necessary to arrive home with dry hands.

The reason there are no hand guards listed for the CBF1000's is because of the limited clearance between the brake/clutch levers & master cylinder reservoirs and the side fairings/mirror stems when the steering is turned from full lock to full lock.

I wanted something to cut down on wind chill to the fingers/hands and to give some support at motorway speeds to my 'Oxford Bone Dry' muffs. I took a punt and fitted these 20 general purpose hand guards to my SC58. They were far from a straight forward install since they required precise fitting so they didn't interfere with the brake/clutch levers on the inside and required cutting down so they didn't interfere with the side fairings and mirror stems on the outside, I also had to flatten, cut down and drill the brackets to attach them to the pre-drilled holes in the master cylinder reservoirs which required the threads re-tapping to suit the M10 x 1.5mm flanged bolts I had. Note the bracket mounting bolts are not supplied in the kit and I didn't use the supplied extended bar end weights which would have given a little more clearance inside for the levers but the guards and brackets would still have required fettling and cutting down.

So far I've only used them without the muffs on a cold, wet and windy one day 800 mile sortie to the lake district (3rd weekend in February) when I spent 7 hours and 400 miles riding home in the rain. They did cut down on much of the wind chill to the finger tips, not all but enough for my winter gloves to maintain feeling in my finger tips, with the bar muffs fitted they'll keep my finger tips, warm, dry and toasty in summer gloves against whatever the British weather can throw at them. Not a pretty look, on their own they cut down on the wind chill and make a near perfect support for the Oxford Bone Dry muffs.

Greetings to all,

I'm currently exploring the possibility of adding handguards to my 2009 Honda CBF1000. Despite searching extensively online, I haven't been able to locate any handguards specifically designed for my Honda model. While I've come across a few options labeled as "universal" fitment, I'm hesitant about their compatibility.

I'm reaching out to inquire if anyone in this community has successfully fitted handguards to their Honda CBF1000. If so, I would greatly appreciate hearing about your experiences and any recommendations you may have regarding suitable handguard options. Your insights would be immensely helpful.

Top marks for a 'Man made in Shed' solution to support the petrol tank which would have been a better photograph for the knowledge base. I read a post on here some time ago where one of the lads with deep pockets laid out 30 in hard earned for the 'C' spanner and handle because that was the preferred Honda method. Other useful tools I've 'Man made in Shed' from off cuts of timber include a drive chain elongation gauge, drive chain slack gauge, engine/frame supports to raise the front wheel/forks off the ground and a rear wheel support to position the rear wheel for finger tip axle fitting/removal.

Apologies if you've all seen this before and completely aware of it. This just goes to prove you're never too old to learn, along with a little 'if you actually read the manual'
I've spent the day putting my bike back together and found out the C spanner and extension sleeve thingy can be used to hold the fuel tank up, Honda has actually put a lug on the frame to hold it. It does mention a piece of wood will do the same, and that is what I've been doing since owning the bike.
Nothing special I know but my flabber was most definitely gasted !
