HIGHEST MILEAGE
« on: 20 October, 2009, 12:25:50 PM »
Curious as to how many miles/kilometers some of you have put on your "Biffer". Would be interesting to see who has the highest  to report and what year your bike is. I guess I am really trying to find out just how long the engine in this bike can run. I am a newbie and my bike only has 9000 kms. :465:

My Biff is a 2008 bike and due to injuries I've only managed 2000 miles this year .. and just had another operation so the bike is now off the road till 2010 .. not a good year for me. Overall ..... "Betty" has 6400 miles on the clock.

My GT has just under 7000 miles and that has basically been racked up in 4 1/2 months. It was new in December 2008 but I work at sea so only ride when at home. Did from UK to south of France this summer and covered 763 miles in one day , lets say we may have infringed the National speed limits on occassion but the bike never missed a beat. I reckon the fact that these are low reving engines compared to some marques and the torque one has low down you do not need to hammer them to get them moving. They should roll up adecent milage before needing a rebuild, just a shame about the alternator failure rates, just spoil this great bike.
Keep her serviced and oil changed as per manual and she will do you a good few years.

Change the oil regularly, replace the odd alternator and this engine will see some of us out, at least until we give up riding :oldie:  Don't think longevity will be a problem for a well service bike.

I've done a tad over 11,000 miles in two years.

My last three bikes (all Hondas but not Biffers) did well over 19,000, 25,000 and 65,000 before trade in and they were not half the engine the Blade derivative is.

Well actually that’s not entirely true the 25,000 was on a CB500 and that is half the engine the Blade is - the middle two cylinders, as I recall!

My point is that I fully expect to need an excuse to get rid of the Biffer way, way, before I really need to. A motor like that may have the odd wobble (alternators seem the only one found so far and that’s not happened to everyone) but we are many light years away from the ‘ride it one weekend – fix it the next’ world that some folks round here grew up in!

In its 170bhp form with boy racers on board it seems pretty bomb proof so our version with a less manic tune should hold for a long old time!
