Best chain and sprockets for 2017 mk2

After 27000 miles last week's Mot was the usual straight pass. I always have it serviced with Mot and the mechanic said chain has a tight spot and it was time for new chain and sprockets. Recommendations please for the best of both, I would rather pay extra for good ones as i think the last ones(Obviously the originals.) Have lasted well. Ps I do realise all chains have a bit of a tight spot.

All drive chains have a tight spot which in itself is not reason to replace, although in my experience 27,000 miles is about as good as it gets on the OEM chain. Reasons to replace would be sprocket wear, seized or damaged chain links, chain elongation etc.

In my opinion for the best drive chain and sprocket kit for a sports tourer at a keen price look no further than DID 530 VX3 X-Ring Chain and JT Quiet Sprocket Kit from Hunters of Newcastle which is an upgrade to the OEM DID 50 ZVM2 chain and with the correct level of maintenance should be good for 40,000 miles.

Of interest a new straight out of the box CBF 1000 5/8" pitch drive chain such as the DID 530 VX3 measures 190.5 mm across 13 link pin centres. The DID service limit is +1% elongation which means that a measurement in excess of 192.5 mm across 13 link pin centres would indicate a replacement chain is due. Visible wear on the sprockets is not always easy to assess, one trick is to make a cardboard template or outline drawing of the new sprockets for future sprocket wear comparisons.

Thanks Art, always the guru that we all appreciate. I want the best as I have no intention of changing this bike until I physically can't manoeuvre it in the garage. And at 66 I hope that's a way off yet.

I'm 66 and then some and manoeuvring the CBF can be a struggle at times. I've dropped it twice in the past 3 months, fortunately both times were while stationary and between the engine bars, highway pegs, crash bobbins and panniers there was no damage.

I've been fortunate so far but the space she lives in is tight as the car and another bike have to fit in as well.

Not too far from Kettering. I once applied for a job with Wicksteed's, ever got it despite a recommendation from my brother-in-law who was on their payroll.
