    Engine Cutting out.

    My 2008 CBF 1000 has starting to cut out occasionally whilst travelling usually above 60mph. The F1 red warning light comes on and bike will stop. Sometimes cuts back in and restarts, otherwise after stopping will restart after a few mins. Bike has always started and will run without a problem at standstill. I understand the F1 warning relates to a fuel injection problem. Had the bike checked at garage with diagnostic kit but unfortunately no problem identified as F1 light did not come on. Any assistance would be appreciated as I can see me stranded on the bike if not sorted.

    You are correct. When the Programmable Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) Malfunction Indication Lamp (MIL) comes on there is a fault in the PGM-FI system.

    There are two types of faults:
    Current fault - The MIL flashes and keeps on flashing;
    Stored fault - The MIL flashes and then stops flashing (everything appears normal but it isn't).

    Have a read here How I read TC's without any special tools or, software or diagnostic equipment
