Motor struggles to start, idles at very low rpm and stalls out.

Hello All,  I am new to this forum.   I am having difficulty with starting the motor.  To make a long story short, the previous day, I finished a nice 4 hour ride with seemingly no issues.  Garage parked the bike and tried to start the next morning to go to work and the the motor would barely start.  It would idle at a low rpm and then stall out after about 4 seconds of firing.  Seemed to get worse if I tried to tap the throttle a bit.  It would then sound as if it was misfiring and would definitely stall out.

I haven't even had a chance to start troubleshooting at this time but just looking for any info from anyone that may have experienced a similar condition.  It appears as if it is starving for fuel.  Just prior to this, if I may add, on occasion with about a quarter of a tank of fuel or less, the bike would stall upon heavy deceleration.  When this happened, there was no problem with restarting the motor after placing in neutral.  I ran a bottle of gum out through a full tank and that issue seemingly disappeared but did notice a slight rpm drop and fluctuation after heavy deceleration when the tank was close to empty.  In any case, when the tank was full there was no issue with stalling after heavy deceleration.

Any feedback at this time would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks All!!!

What you have there is a SC58 CBF1000 -8 (A-8 if it has ABS) an excellent choice for a Sports Tourer that ticks many boxes in its class. A big plus for me is the ease in which it can be serviced and maintained at home by the home mechanic without the need of any special tools or diagnostic equipment. If you’re allowed spanners and you haven't already, you may want to download the Honda Workshop and Owners Manuals here. Section 24.TROUBLESHOOTING should be an interesting read.

Apart from the basics (fuel, compression, spark) you may want to check for any Diagnostic Trouble Codes, Another interesting read on that here
