    64,000 mile brake pad review

    Prompted by the poor wear life of recently fitted EBC brake pads, I Pondered over the thread title and settled on 64,000 mile brake pad review in favour of 'Honda OEM vs Brenta GG vs EBC organic brake pads' or 'EBC organic rear brake pad fail' no matter here it is.

    I replaced the rear brake pads on 6th September 2022 at 55,456 miles with a pair of EBC organic brake pads, yes I keep detailed service records. Fast forward to 15th May 2023 at 62,099 miles and those EBC pads are down to the wear limit indicators (< 2 mm) that's gone in 6,643 miles :005: I've checked the caliper and there is no binding, the pistons and pad pins were gunge free and the caliper floats all as it should do. By way of comparison there was no noticeable difference in stopping power but previous brake pads have lasted far, far longer, for example:

    Rear brake pads;
      The OEM pads lasted 16,138 miles
      Brenta GG pads lasted 18,250 miles
      Brenta GG pads lasted 21,068 miles
      EBC organic pads lasted 6,643 miles
    Front brake pads;
      The OEM pads lasted 16,138 miles
      Brenta GG pads lasted 19,832 miles
      Brenta GG pads lasted 19,486 miles
      EBC organic pads so far lasting 7,277 miles and down to around 1 mm of the wear limit indicator

    Did I mention I keep detailed service records? I only fitted the EBC's because the Brenta's were out of stock and EBC had good reputation, never again. Happily this time around Wemoto had the Brenta's in stock so I'm back with the tried and tested Brenta (FT 3081) GG brake pads on the rear, and I've two pair sitting on the shelf in waiting for the fronts  :028:

    Brenta GG FT 3081 rear brake pads and Brenta GG FT 3081 front brake pads Wemoto have separate listings for the fronts and rears but they're the same (FT 3081) brake pads

    The bottom line and conclusion to my 64,000 mile brake pad review is... For commuting, fun days, touring and all year round motorcycling you won't find better than the Brenta (FT 3081) GG brake pads.

      :028: Great review Art. Shows the value of keeping detailed service records, especially on
      a long term keeper machine.
