i bought my mk1 after selling a blackbird with the intention of keeping it a year, that was in 2014.
I've looked at everything to replace mine but keep coming back to the same point, what do i want that the CBF doesnt do? six trips around spain and portugal and never missed a beat, comfortable one or two up, 300 miles no problem, enough power (for me) cheapish to look after, especially if you do most of the jobs yourself. There's loads of info on here.

I absolutely concur with Mark although my experience with the CBF is much closer to yours - I joined recently 
My POV: having owned a Hornet (600) about 10 years ago and my last bike being a CTX1300, I initially felt like the CBF was the exact quintessential of these two. But as I'm gaining confidence with it I'm starting to revive sensations darn close to what I had with my Hornet... (better watch those point on my license again!)

Thanks all, I’ve ordered a hugger as I’ve seen a build up of grime already. Other things on my list to add are a top box and USB outlet. Still early days but the Spring is coming fast and Im looking forward to getting out and about on her .

A big plus for me with the CBF1000 is the ease in which it can be serviced and maintained at home by the home mechanic without the need of any special tools or diagnostic equipment. As Froggymanny says if you  haven't already, and you're allowed spanners you may want to download the Honda Workshop and Owners Manuals here.
