I had it from nearly new and it was always that way.

The only times it failed first 'kick' was me being too abitious/impatient.

It still does take 2-3 seconds to fire up John, and has never worried me.  :028:

sure, experienced it once per blue moon, about as often as I experience a quick start :) And no, they are not lying because I borrowed few of their bikes for couple days and the start was always faster.

Anyway, as long as it is normal on cbf then its all good  :046:

I could have worded that better. To be 'perfectly honest' the comparisons would need to be more scientific, not everything that rolls off the keyboard is as it would roll off the tongue.

For any comparison to have any meaningful worth it needs to be like for like which in the case of comparing average cranking to firing up timings should take into account the specification and condition of valve gear, cylinders, cubic capacity, compression ratio, battery etc. As well as other variables that will also affect starting which include the specification and condition of the fuelling, ignition and charging systems etc. All of which can be perfectly serviceable and within tolerance when performing at less than 100% efficiency, with the only noticeable effect being a slight 2 or 3 second hesitation on firing up which can be normal for any internal combustion engine.

when you turn your ignition on wait 2 seconds for the fuel pump  to prime before you press the starter :038:

    Hi all
Agreeing with everything that has been said previously. And I would add this, based on my modest experience on the few occasions I struggled to fire mine up:
    - I have a Technoglobe alarm that will inactivate the ignition: I make sure I'm pressing the off button long enough when deactivating the alarm.
    - same for the ignition: a "false start" (when my thumb  slips off the starter button) often makes it harder to actually start the bike afterwards.
    My two (euro) cents...

I just bought a mkii with 71,000 and it does this. I am used to my 08 1250 Bandit which started immediately.
