    Hi all
new on here today, bought a cbf1000 last year registard 2011 but 2010 model.

A couple of weeks ago my bike just would not start charged battery started but afte a day at work had to bump it off every day, got the battery checked and bought a new battery on advice given. Yesterday hit a pothole in the rain and every light on the dash lit up then went out, turned the bike off to open the garage and it wouldn't start again rolled it into the garage found the connector had worked loose.
Charged the battery and started fine today..on the way home the bike just cut out and would not even turnover none of the indicators would work or anything. Eventually bumped off the bike and it ran like a bag of spanners and the ABS light continued flashing all the way home, the indicators became very erratic and when I got home the had stopped working altogether again. I left the bike running until I opened my garage but as soon as I put it in gear it cut out and would not start again as if the battery was dead.....HELP !!!! Had a Yamaha Thundercat for 13 years never a problem

There are three states of non starter, it would help if you'd explained which occurred and when.

    1) 'Crank no start' where the dash lights come on, the starter motor cranks the engine and the engine doesn't fire up.
    2) 'No crank, no start' where the dash lights come on and the starter motor fails to crank the engine.
    3) 'Dead' where there is no sign of life, no dash lights, no cranking, nothing.

If its 'dead' it can only be a battery, battery connection or main fuse issue, a multimeter will be your best and only friend. If I was a gambling man I'd wager when you hit that pot hole something was loose and shook loose some more and enough to fail. You previously changed the battery and had a loose connection so go over all you handy work again. The question being has something you've done failed or has something else on the motorcycle failed?

Whatever the fault it will be nothing to do with you previously owning a Yamahaha, that's just an unfortunate coincidence  :016:

    Hi
Started at 2...dash lights no crank as battery died then 3.....nothing...did bump off though  but ran really rough and indicators were starting to fail by the time i'd ridden the 2 miles home. The bike then stalled when I put in 1st and was completely dead...just charging battery now to see if it bursts into life the battery is only a week or two old.

Did check battery connections...all fine. Read on here about stator fails could this be an option and misdiagnosed when I bought a new battery ?
