Is 20,000 miles a lot for a CBF buying second hand?

    Hi all.

I know is a wide open question, but in general, if visible service history, is 20k any concern for a 2007?

    Many thanks.

If anything its too little, my 2006 CBF is on 60,000 miles, low vs high mileage is relevant to age. A 2007 vehicle on 20,000 miles has only done 1,300 miles per year, if that is 25 miles per week, or 50 miles per week for 6 months of the year, the engine has hardly ever warmed up and is likely to have excessive or premature wear for the mileage.

I did see a 2008 CAT-D with just 5k on the clock for the same price, I chickened out.

Ended up buying a 2008 with 11k for £3100, full luggage and service history.

Low mileage Biffers aren't necessarily a problem. It's entirely possible they are kept in a damp free environment, some reasonable precautions taken if stored over the winter then used in the summer for ride-outs or maybe a tour, where they do get warm and roundly used. I would look for signs of one being kept in the damp by looking at the usual suspects. But really, there's two types of riders, those that ride year round, sun cracking the pavement or salty wet roads and blizzards or summer, dry days only riders. I think I know which I'd prefer when buying a bike. Within reason, condition is more important than mileage.
