    Vfr800 shock

Can a vfr800 2012 rear shock be fitted to a mk2 biffer? Been offered a high end replacement at a rely keen price and with my bike at the 50k mark on the original shock, im seeing if this could be a cheap upgrade.  I know the vfr units are slightly longer but are the any major hurdles to stop the fitment? Im a pretty confident mechanic and have modified many different bikes over the years.

so before i bit the bullet and purchased a new shock i found a used vfr unit at kempton park auto jumble for silly low money, fittings totally different but closer inspection of my original unit revealed the spring to be tired and faulty. swapped the spring from vfr unit to cbf damper just to see if it was possible and maybe by dumb luck the hybrid unit is a massive improvement with a fraction more ride height and good ride quality

Hey Panda, thank you very much for sharing, that is a very useful piece of info.
    Questions for you:
I'm not particularly heavy and yet when riding with a passenger, I find it rather easy to hit the full compression of the spring on any not-so-high road bump. Am I to understand that with this modification, I could reduce this inconvenience?
On the other hand, I am wondering what experts might have to say about repercussions on the behaviour of the bike...
    Thanks for your insights!
    Have a great Sunday
    Manny

I can only report what the bike is like with a 15st rider and 10st pillion but it used to occasionally bottom out leaving miarks on the hugger but now with the vfr800 spring the rear doesn't reach full compression but is still comfortable to ride
