Hi Everyone - new member from Canada. Purchased a 2011 CBF 1000 a few weeks ago. Needed it for commuting (mix of high speed highway and smaller roads). Did some research and the CBF looked like a good all rounder. So far so good - absolutely love the handling. Having issues with some surging around 3500 RPM and lack of power in 1st and 2nd - almost feels like the bike just doesn't want to go or is being held back. Seems fine at constant highway travel. I see that some other members have had similar issues so I'll post something in the mechanical section.

Just wanted to introduce myself and say hello.

There could be a 101 reasons for erratic RPM's

Assuming you're allowed spanners my first port of call would be to check and read any current or stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes. After that, if you haven't already, you may want to download the Honda Workshop and Owners Manuals here. The sections on PGM-FI and Troubleshooting should be of particular interest.
