The old Varta TTZ10S-BS is struggling to hold charge and with winter coming it's battery replacement time. The Varta was on the motorcycle when I acquired it in 2014 so at over 8 years old it's done well, normally I'd go for the same again and I really don't know why I didn't but hey ho. Ended up with a
Motobatt MBTZ10S from Tanya Batteries at £50.06 (40.01+7.99=?) two day delivery to my door.
A couple of small issues. I had to reshape the stepped negative lead ring connector for it to fit the Motobatt battery post which was just that little bit smaller than the posts on the Varta. When Swapping over the new Motobatt felt lighter than the old Varta, out with the kitchen scales and they weighed in at 2967g for the Motobatt and 3239g for the Varta, I'm thinking heavier would be better with batteries. The Motobatt was also a gnats longer and taller, it fitted the carrier and recess OK but that extra couple of mm made it a fiddle to locate the carrier bolts.
The bottom line here is that due to the smaller battery posts, slightly bigger dimensions and lighter weight of the Motobatt I'm kicking myself for not getting the Varta. So if you're in the market for a new battery my recommendation is the
