Hello, new Honda CBF100F C-ABS rider here

Hello,

My name is Ruud and I am from The Netherlands. Riding bikes for more than 40 years now from Yamaha XT600, BMW K100, Honda ST1100, Honda VT 750, BMW R1100RT, BMW R1150R and now a Honda again. The CBF1000F C-ABS.

I was just baffled by the ease the Honda rides, so more sophisticated than the Beemers who have the name, but don't deliver.

I start riding the Honda next year and in the meantime hope to learn a lot about the bike.

BMW is one brand I've never owned but I've worked on a few and seen them by the side of the road 

I'm guessing your Honda will be a SC64 CBF1000 FA-C (F=Facelift, A=ABS, C=2012) an excellent choice for a Sports Tourer that ticks many boxes in its class. A big plus for me is the ease in which it can be serviced and maintained at home by the home mechanic without the need of any special tools or diagnostic equipment. If you’re allowed spanners and you haven't already, you may want to start off your CBF1000 learning experience by downloading the Honda Workshop and Owners Manuals here

Thank you for the tip on the manuals. I don't know if mine is a SC64. Can I check that on the bike itself?
It's now in winterstorage but going to bring some stuff over there soon.

BMW makes great bikes but I was done with the "active" way of riding a 2 cylinder. And maintaining them was very expensive The K100 was a far better bike in riding but old  .
The Honda's I had never broke down, the ST1100 gave me 8 years of pleasure without any problems. That's the one of the reasons to buy the CBF besides the excellent handling.

The SC64 can be identified by it's 4 into 1 single exhaust and black engine. They were manufactured from 2010 to 2013 with known late registrations as late 2017. The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) will include the model as the 4th to 7th characters (ZDCSC64) and the model year as the 10th character where A=2010, B=2011, C=2013 etc

The SC58 can be identified by its 4 into 2 twin exhausts and silver engine. They were manufactured from 2006 to 2009 with known late registrations as late 2013. The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) will include the model as the 4th to 7th characters (ZDCSC58) and the model year as the 10th character where 6=2006, 7=2007, 8=2008, 9=2009 etc

Hello Art,

You are right, looking at the pictures the bike has a black engine and 1 exhaust. Fun to know and handy for accessories.
