Hi all, just entering the world of biking as a recent retiree with zero previous experience. Passed licence and have bought my first big bike silver CBF 1000 t-a with GT upgrades. 45k miles with a stack of service history. Bike appears to have been well loved by previous owners. I plan to tinker with her as and when required and have a feeling this forum will be a great help.

What you have there is a SC58 CBF1000, not sure what the 't-a' refers to, CBF's with the Honda GT option package are almost as rare as hens teeth.

A big plus for me with the CBF is the ease in which it can be serviced and maintained at home by the home mechanic without the need of any special tools or diagnostic equipment. If you haven't already and your tinkering extends to being allowed spanners you may want to download the Honda Workshop and Owners Manuals here.

+1 for the Haynes Service and Repair Manual, always a good idea to have a hard copy manual in the shed. Note the earlier editions only covered the original SC58, later editions cover both the original SC58 and the face lift SC64.
