Tyre bead setting.

Hi all,
Just fitted a Michelin Pilot Road front tyre. In the past I've used an air line (where I worked) to set the bead but don't have that option any more so thought I'd try a double barrel foot pump. I was surprised how easy this was. After about 30 seconds both sides popped in at 17 - 18 psi.
Inflated tyre to the correct 36 psi and all's good. I know there's been a debate about wether you can or can't do this without an airline, I suppose it depends on different size wheels and tyres, but for the CBF I can say it works OK.

When I fitted my own tyres I'd inflate to no more than 20 psi, if seating the beads then proved difficult I'd rotate the wheel and bonce the tyre at different points of its circumference until the beads popped, of course you still need to check they've seated correctly all round the rim. These days I no longer have access to tyre fitting and balancing kit so its the only job I put in the hands of my MOT tester.
