Just bought a 2009  model A (22k) which has lower fairing fitted.  Unfortunately I discovered the stator was burnt out after I'd ridden it 90 miles home.  Dealer didn't quibble would have given total refund but I agreed to be sent a new stator and battery - didn't seem like such a major job. However removing the stator I saw that the coils had gone near the connecting wires at the top - seems to be a common "thing", is it because that is furthest away from the oil feed to the stator case?  Anyway, getting the lower fairings off was a bit of a pain and although they look nice, I wonder if they serve any other purpose, could they be contributing to the heat damage on the stator? are they just rattle producers? :016:
    Any thoughts/knowledge would be appreciated.

Not common, but a few do go.

Did the dealer provide an OEM stator (good shout if so), and well done on scoring a battery (another consumable).

Shame the dealer let it out 'faulty' but now you've done the job is a good 'un.

    P.S.  :405:
