Won't be able to get out on the bike for at least another two and a half months.

Hi Ed. Like you I just purchased a 2008. Picking up on Tuesday as the weather on the West coast is definitely warmer than Winterpeg right now 😁. I test drove it last Thursday on a foggy cool day and was very impressed with low speed maneuvers and power. I'm much shorter than you at 5'6" with 29" inseam and definitely didn't find it top heavy.  For reference I just sold a 950 vstar that I only had for a year and sold my Valkyrie last year after 20+years (mistake). Also ride a lowered crf450l and have had some FAST racing school training  (Shannonville Ontario) which gave me the sport bike itch 😅.
I'm sure coming from a 750 Shadow (wife had one years ago) you'll love it as will I.  Good luck!

Hey @ithappens, good to hear from another Canuck. I've been monitoring Kijiji for the last few months and haven't seen CBF1000 for sale in BC. I bought mine from Calgary and am arranging shipping.
You will definitely be riding much sooner than me!

I'm wrong, I do recall seeing it on Kijiji. Beautiful looking bike with low km. Will you throw some luggage on it?

Side note I'm keeping my Shadow RS for my wife who I've convinced to get her licence. Also, not sure I can bear to part with that little Shadow, I love the looks and it's a great little bike.

Maybe throw some soft luggage on for trips and will make a rack for a tail bag.  Heated grips on the way too. Nice to keep the Shadow and I'm sure you're wife will love it.  I trust she's ridden something before??? Maybe trail bike ect... My wife learned on a trail bike and graduated to the Shadow and eventually to a crf230l but now quite content to ride pillion occasionally.
Hope you're able to find some corners around Winnipeg to enjoy the new bike.  Amazing what fun can be had in the twisties with a proper sporting bike like the cbf1000.

This will be my wife's first bike. It is the RS version of the Shadows, so smaller and lighter.
Not many twisties here on the prairies. Thinking one day of a motorcycle road trip to Banff and the Okanagan.

I totally agree with all the positive posts from other CBF owners.  My Biffer is a 2009 model,  bought it used ten years ago, and have been enjoying it thoroughly since.  I'm 74 with old man body aches, 5"10", and can easily maneuver the bike .  I've set the seat at a point where I can plant both feet on the ground and raise my butt of the seat. 

I've had numerous bikes through my life, and during the last while I had  a Suzuki GSF 650 Bandit for the tarmac, and a BMW F650GS Dakar (a single cylinder adventure bike) for the dirt.  Ten years ago I decided on having just one bike, did a lot of research, decided on the Biffer, and never looked back.  The bike is absolutely wonderful; it can easily lope along on a country road, eat up twisties, and cruise at 130 Ks plus on superhighways if you're up to it. Some might consider the bike rather pedestrian, but it does everything you ask of it rather well, and more.  It certainly puts a smile on my face.

Though I've seen plenty of Biffers in Europe, there are too few here in Canada. The fact they're not imported into the USA is most likely the reason.  And regarding the States, a word of warning.  There's a good chance  American dealers will not be able to help you in case of a breakdown for the same reason. We seem to have more Biffers here in Southern Ontario and Quebec, than the rest of Canada.  So there's plenty of dealer support,  and independent garages. 

 Mechanically, I've had a stator go which was replaced on an extended warranty, and a fuel pump problem which should have been remedied on your 2011 model.  Other than that, just the usual consumables.  Oh yeah, had the valves checked later than the manual, at 44,000 Kms, with only one valve slightly out of kilt.  Luggage wise, it came with hard factory panniers, and I use a 3 liter tank bag instead of a top box (with or without the panniers).

Thanks for your feedback. The bike was delivered to a dealership in my area so I had a chance to sit on and I must say it did not feel heavy and it did feel well balanced. Not sure why some say it is a boring looking bike, I really like the look.
I fired it up and the Akropovič exhaust sounds great! Can't wait for riding season.

I picked up my Biffer today. It definitely put a smile on my face. I came from a Shadow RS which is a great beginner bike, but this Biffer is just amazing. My son has a CBR1000RR and the Biffer keeps up quite nicely up to legal speeds. The slow speed handing is really good and it felt natural right away.

One question though: do these bikes burn oil? There was a definite slight burning smell at some points today. Or perhaps it is because it sat unused for over 6 months?
