Standard equip
on: 19 September, 2021, 01:15:49 AM
Hello. Im wondering if anyone knows what is supposed to be strapped down under the pillion seat of my 2010 cbf1000a. There is a factory bungee and i found a loose braided cable(approx 6in long)with rubber sheath and loops on either end as well. Thanks from Canada

Hello. I think there was an option to buy a “U lock” from Honda, and the tray under the seat has a cutout to stow the the lock and a rubber strap to hold it down.

The loose braided cable can be used to secure a crash helmet to the bike, loop it through the chin piece, hook the loops under the seat, replace the seat.  :028:

The bungee is to secure the underseat tool kit which came as standard. Note parts 5 and 16 in the fiche, the air pressure gauge and bag, are optional extras.

BTW is your CBF a 2010 Canadian variant SC64 CBF 1000 FAA

Thanks very much for speedy reply. I believe youre right. The "U shaped uprights" seem about the right size for a lock Again thanks for your help. BMc

Thank you for your reply. Yes I have the toolkit and manual secured to underside of pillion seat. I wondered about the space under the seat with 2 "u shaped uprights" and a cable rattling around. I believe Fliz may be right about a U lock. Thank you for your efforts. I am a total newbie re forums and can only hope that Ive responded correctly.
My avatar is a stock photo from online but is pretty much identical to my bike. Not sure re specific variants etc
Just looked under pillion seat CBF1000FAA

I couldn't work out exactly how the braided cable thing worked, left it on the pillion seat one day and it went AWOL never to be seen again. I think Flitz is correct, seem to remember members posting details of U locks that will fit between those under seat clips. I removed the clips on mine and taped up the holes to prevent water ingress to make a little extra space in the tray to store my SatNav when parked.

Isn't that braided cable part of the 'helmet lock' - goes around the hook exposed when that seat is lifted.
- loops around the chin strap loop/d-rings.
Only do it right - no bodging please.   Keeper of the failed stator list.   John.
