Engine swap, mk1 to mk2
on: 13 May, 2021, 11:34:16 AM
Hi there just a new member asking if anyone knows whether a mk2 engine will fit straight into mk1 frame.
I potentially have a mk1 with an overheated engine and there is a mk2 engine very reasonably priced but need to make sure it is the same apart from black paint.
Thanks in advance fellas,
Best rgds.

No it won't work. Sorry.

1. The mounting points are different.
2. The ECU is different. So, you need a MK2 ECU - which means you need the MK 2 instrument panel.

There's probably other things too.
