Back again
on: 28 April, 2021, 04:38:40 PM
Not really a new member as this is my 3rd CBF1000. I sold my 15 plate Mk2 in June last year and replaced it with a new Tracer 700. It didn’t take long to realise that l had made a bad call and l never gelled with the Tracer at all. I came back from a run a couple of weeks ago and in a fit of anger l took some photos and stuck the bike on eBay. To my surprise the phone didn’t stop ringing and it was gone the next day. So now l have the money burning a hole in my pocket but what to buy. Then it dawned on me that l had missed my Biffer so the quest was on to find another. After a few days of looking l found one privately at a very fair price and only 60 miles away. So l now have a 66 plate Mk2 with 8000 miles on ( I realise they finished making them in 2012). The ride back down the M5 was great, like pulling on an old pair of slippers.
So I’m back on number 3.

Best wishes

Mo

 :401: BACK

2012 was the last year for the SC58 you have a SC64, check the year by the 10th digit of the VIN

A = 2010
B = 2011
C = 2012
D = 2013 (last year)

Being on your third you probably knew that

Didn’t actually know about the lettering Art. Will be interesting to see how long this was sitting around before being registered. I’ll have a look when I get the document back from Swansea. Oddly, the one l sold last year is back in a dealers for sale. It was a spot on gt when’ll sold it but now the top box is missing, strange mirrors added and it’s more money than l sold it for and more than l paid for this one.

Cheers

If its sitting in a dealers the price will be open for negotiation, expect to get 10% on a good day.

I bet dvla have it as (confusingly) FA-C.

- has anyone got one (a mkII) marked 'D' anywhere - I thought there were none (imported to GB land).
Only do it right - no bodging please.   Keeper of the failed stator list.   John.

Unknowing is par for the course. The mostly ignored advice is to check the VIN before you hand over your hard earned or sign the loan agreement, even if it is a new vehicle. If it turns out to be hooky, as you know, it goes straight back to the rightful owner and you loose all that you shelled out or worse you own a loan without a vehicle.

The V5 has emerged from the bowels of DVLA this morning and it is indeed a C registered 10/9/16. The consolation is that l knew that already but could understand someone buying it new thinking it was a 2016 bike.
Just happy to be back on a CBF.

As Art would say “happy days”
