Faint knocking noise
on: 06 April, 2021, 08:40:12 PM
I will try to describe this as best as possible. This year I have noticed a faint knocking sound while in motion. I just had new tires installed, which I did the removal and installation of the wheels. I followed the manual and torqued everything properly.

I cannot hear the noise above 40km/h which I'm sure is due to wind noise drowning it out. It sounds like it's coming from right below me. At 20km/h it is a knock about every second. At 35 km/h it is about two knocks per second. If I pull the clutch the noise goes away. It is not super loud and the engine noise drowns it out when accelerating.

Hope that makes sense and hopefully someone has some ideas! Thanks!

I'd check the drive chain for a seized or sticking link, if the link don't hinge it makes a clicking on the front sprocket.

I’d second what Art suggests. I have had a similar noise on a previous bike and one of the chain pins was very stiff. Couldn’t free it so fitted new chain and sprockets.
