Warning. Import Duty Costs since leaving EU.

I have recently purchased an Arrow exhaust from Italy. I could not get one from this country.
It was reduced by 17% down to £386.
Due to Covid restrictions it was held at FedEx Facility in Paris airport for 13 days but I will receive it today with the extra Import Duty cost of £101.
Maybe I should have been aware of this in the first place but there was no mention in the ebay description and I just went ahead and bought it.
To be honest, I don't think I can justify paying nearly £490 and I'm considering returning it as I have 60 days to do so with free return postage.
Unless anyone has further suggestions then that is what I'm considering.
I have messaged the seller asking for a percentage refund to offset the cost, as there was no mention of Import Duty charges in their description, but I'm not full of optimism on that score.

Unfortunately one of the results of Brexit.
I don’t think import duty is on everything from the EU though.

My mate bought a second hand mudguard for is Z900 from a seller in France, we expected he might get caught with import duty, but nothing extra to pay. Maybe different rules for second hand goods though.

Have discovered that I'll still have to pay the £101 import tax even if I return it. Looks as if I'm sheepishly ( well I am Welsh) taking the hit.

No charge if goods are £135 or less.
So if I buy tyres from Oponeo (Germany last time, I think), it would be better to buy two tyres in two transactions rather than one transaction over £135.

Some good news.
After contacting them regarding the extra "hidden" costs they have offered, as "an act of courtesy" to refund me a one off payment of £50 on the understanding that in future I will be liable for the full cost of Import Tax.
