Check what you can first before spending any money, on parts or oil.

If it was the oil, would it cause clutch slip, not judder maybe?

40k is not high for a wet clutch.

Yeah my last biffer had done 70k on one clutch when I sold it. Already bought the oil but I can keep it for now. I'll check the slave, pushrod and put fresh fluid first. Cheers

One more question before I have a look at the slave: is the gasket really necessary? I seem to remember last time it seemed a bit pointless and I didn't replace it.
If you can't change your Mark 1 stator with your eyes shut: you haven't been riding your bike enough....

Is the gasket between the slave cylinder and the sprocket cover?
If so, itís probably not really necessary. You could make one.
