I'm new to the 'biffer', but from what I understand the MK2 charging system is rated at 350Watts/29amps...the question is what does the basic electrical operating system draw and how how many amps would be left over for electrical accessories. I'm guessing the system could handle up to 10 amps of accessories, meaning heated gear and grips, GPS but not much else.

350W, 27A, 12.8v
Its dependant on the condition of the battery. Once the starter motor has done its thing there is about 200W to play with assuming the radiator fan doesn't spin up in which case the engine would need to be running at around 2,500 RPM to keep pace with the battery discharge.

Just out of curiosity, how much power does that radiator fan draw? Regardless, as long as my accessories are switched through a fusebox the battery wouldn't struggle with 10amps of accessories which would now include a voltmeter!
