Hi Gerry, I've been having very similar problems, 2008, gradual unidentified coolant loss, coolant out of the pipes under the bike by side stand, I have tried, water pump, rad cap, check all hoses, rad flush, new coolant about 3 times now,! sometimes I thought I'd cracked it then 75-100 miles later check coolant level and  blow me losing about 1/3 liter over 100 miles more if I ride hard, Did the thermostat do it? Like you lower mileage and only 1 owner before me , I'm left by elimination with the head gasket gone! I have been using the bike daily to commute 25-30 miles a day, it goes like a rocket, sounds sweet, no funny cream in oil or rad, small amount of smoke on start up but that soon burns off I have just got into a routine at weekends, tank off and top up with coolant (I can get to the rad in 5 mins now! I wish someone had told me you don't need remove all the fairings). After owning around 70 bikes from a Fantic Cabellero to Harley Dyna I went for the Biffer as I read reviews- great bike for mature rider etc Honda bullet proof engine well I think I got a wrong-un, shame because I really do like the thing.

Hi Happy Medium,

They are exactly the same issues i was having! After trying everything i thought it was the head gasket aswell!
My local bike mechanic told me it could be the thermostat that needed replacing.
So i bought a new one and put it in, flushed out the radiator and put in fresh coolant!
The bike is running perfect, with no coolant leaks or any bubbling!
I would recommend changing the thermostat in yours aswell!

Double check the radiator cap too.

Make sure the spring loaded plunger is working. Check if the plunger spring is sticky/jammed. It can stick fully open, fully closed, or partially open/closed. Excess pressure can't get out to your expansion bottle, and the coolant will find a way out via the least path of resistance. Also check if the cap is actually the correct radiator cap for the bike, the wrong pressure rated cap could give you the same issues. Biffer cap should be 1.1Bar.
