ABS light always on.
« on: 17 June, 2020, 07:25:57 PM »
I know people have mentioned ABS lights before but......i bought my 2009 CBF in October. A very low mileage (7500) one owner bike with the ABS light on. I now find it's been like this for about 4 years! Apparently a few people have tried to fix it to no avail. I put a replacement ABS pump in at weekend. No change. Now here's the silly question. How long should the front sensor be from the bolt hole to the end, anyone know? Mine is 25 mm and the gap to the rotor is about 6mm. i think the sensor needs to be about 29mm ish. If that doesn't work it's going to my tame Honda mechanic.
Thanks
John, Stockport

Air gap between the front wheel sensor and the pulser ring should be 0.2mm- 1.2mm.

Hope this helps.   :028:

The rear one is fine at a wee bit over 1.2 mm. The front one doesn't get anywhere near the pulser ring. I wonder if someone fitted the wrong sensor at sometime in the past. The gap is 5 to 6mm. I can't see any damage anywhere. the bike rides very well and smoothly, just no ABS!

Yeah that sensor gap is far to big. I will try to photograph the sensor and bracket assembly on mine in the morning and post the photo and you can compare it to yours, might help to pinpoint what might be wrong on yours. Wrong sensor, wrong/ bent bracket.  :028:

Thank you. That will be helpful. If your ABS works OK could you possibly measure the length of the front sensor from the bolt holes to the end of the sensor if that would be OK. I want to know if mine is the wrong sensor. Much appreciated.

Hello John.

Air gap on mine 0.9mm

Sensor length 28mm.

Front and rear sensors look to be the same size.  Anything else I can check out on it/compare for you let me know.    :028:

Hi. Thanks for the pictures and measurements. My sensor can't be right as it only measures just over 25mm. I'll look for another and see if that helps.
I appreciate your help. We'll see if another sensor does anything....
Cheers
John
