top box locking??
« on: 29 April, 2020, 06:00:39 PM »
Hi all, new member here. I'm struggling to get the top box to lock. I don't know if the mechanism isn't catching correctly or what! It's the standard Honda top box.
Cheers for any help.
Chris.

A genuine Honda box or a Givi or similar, if it's any of them spare locks can be had on the bay of thieves for not a lot!! a couple of pictures showing the problem your having may help us to help you!!
A newbie to the Biffer, owned a Bird for 19 years, and looking forward to long term ownership of my CBF!!

Picture of the lid looks good, could do to look at the other half.
Just had a look at mine to see if I could guess what was wrong. Probably stating the obvious, sorry if so, the locking mechanism where the key is has two parts that pivot at the same point, there is also a basic spring, this could be missing. Spring or no spring, with the lid shut, both locking parts need to be pushed flat against the box, pushing and holding the top half first.

Also the key turns a flat bar that hooks top and bottom when locked, Is this missing or not turning?

Thanks for your help.
I think the spring is missing, so i've found by pressing the big plastic plate it while turning the key, it locks.

Love the bike so far!

Chris.
