Calling the SORN experts

Or anyone who knows really.
What is the last practical moment I can SORN a vehicle online (currently taxed, expires 30/4).
(Without dropping into "May" just because 'the computer' says so.)
I don't want to do this right now as the vehicle is roadworthy (should I need it - although isn't getting used), but I'm thinking of not re-taxing it for May (a tad more than the bike costs!).

Do it on line and you can choose to SORN it immediately using the 11-digit number in the log book, or on the 1st May using the 16-digit number on the tax reminder letter.
Its all here
SORN - Choose when it starts

Ah very good, taa.
I haven't SORN'd a vehicle 'on renewal' before but that web page makes it look straight forward. Here's hoping all the computers are aligned come the 1st May.
