That is a CBF 1000-Ax SC58 with the (de-tuned) SC57 engine or, a MKI ABS model as it is known on here.

Generally manufactured, on sale and being registered from 2006 to 2010 (some late in 2011 & 2012). For the exact year of manufacture check the 17 digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) found engraved on the right side of the steering head, engraved on a metal tag fixed to the left side of the frame in front of the cylinder head cover and in the V5 registration document.

Check the 4th to 8th digits which refer to the Honda model type "SC58" = MKI

Check the 10th digit which refers to the year of manufacture where 6 = 2006, 7 = 2007, 8 = 2008, 9 = 2009, A = 2010, B = 2011 and C = 2012
Thanks for this info! This will be so useful when I eventually get to see the bike!

Are they (dealer or private) selling it as a 2014 motorcycle?

The implications are it may be priced using one of the trade guides or from average prices of 2014 models all of which will be SC64's (MKII's) and have a higher price tag due to their higher specification.

I've just seen the advert. Its advertised as a "CBF 1000A-A"

The first "A" denotes its an ABS model, the second "A" denotes year of manufacturer 2010 albeit first registered in 2014.

Which in my opinion makes its £4,495.00 price tag at least £1,000 over the top, low mileage 2010's are going for £3,000+ or £3,500+ with full luggage.

The specifications given are incorrect for a SC58 MKI (with ABS)

Bike weight - is 222Kg not 245kg
Front Brake - ABS model has three pistons not two
Max Power - is 96.5 bhp not 106 bhp

I'd point all this out and, if you still want it, offer them a generous £3,495 and not a penny more.

Compare the two models at MCN CBF1000 Bike Reviews

Just before the ďlockdown ď I was offered £3700 for my 09 Mk1 abs 7000 miles, off Dobles Honda. Just to give you an idea of the sort of money these bikes are worth.

IMHO they are asking far too much for that bike.

That website is bloody awful too, more emphasis on their own logo than the actual bike they are trying to sell. Looks like a child has been using Powerpoint to knock up the advert.

Add in the fact they haven't even got the bikes specs correct (this is a motorcycle dealer that, er, sells motorcycles), and they say it's got a two pot front caliper when you can clearly see three pots in their own photo, wouldn't inspire me!

Haggle to your hearts content.

+1 Shed and some good prices posted there too. The £3,950 offering the same bike as the highest priced on Auto Trader.

I find Auto Trader is a fairly accurate value indicator, insurance company assessors have been known to use them as a guide to used vehicle values.

Prices for SC58's (MKI's) range from around £2,200 for 2006 models to £4,000 for 2012 models. Obviously dealer asking prices can be haggled down and cash buyers can expect to get 5 - 10% or more off depending on the market climate and their haggling skills. I've not seen a SC58 (MKI) advertised at over £4,000 for some time, including pre-lockdown.

Top dollar for buying an immaculate, low mileage SC58 (MKI) ABS model has to be around £3,500 maybe slightly more if it comes with full luggage.

Have a look on Auto Trader Bikes (CBF1000 2006-2012)

Well youíve all certainly got me plenty of great information. So if I look at this particular bike I shall certainly get them to reduce price or Iíll just walk away. Itís been there a while because Iíve used this dealer for my servicing, so have seen the bike close, though at the time I wasnít looking to change. As youíve shown me thereís plenty of otherís to look at even if I have to travel a bit further!
