Hi From Shavington, Nr Crewe
« on: 09 April, 2020, 05:44:57 PM »
Hello everybody, hoping everyone isn't too bored being locked In? Anyway I'm thinking of buying a CBF, currently I've got a TDM900 which I've had for 9 years. The bike I've seen, and will go to view soonish if I can, is low mileage 5500 and advertised as Jan 2014 registered. It looks immaculate from pictures I've seen, but there's always a but, it looks very much like a Mk1 despite its reg date! Any thoughts?

Its a good choice, MKI (SC58) or MKII (SC64) they tick many boxes. Why does it look like a 2014 MKI? How about a photo??

Hi.

How's Casey Jnr, Redrock, Fireman Wallie & the rest of the crew?
Those of us of a certain vintage will remember the Canonball Express on b&w TV.

You can't go wrong with a Biffer (altho I've only experienced a Mk2).

Chay
Full luggage, Metzeler Z8s (lots of tread left but squared off after 5k miles).

I do remember the series from my childhood, but I could've remembered all those characters!

Hi Casey, I'm new here myself but we might cross paths as I work in your area every day, at the moment I'm on an old RF900 but hopefully soon on a CBF that is if I ever get to go and view a bike (probably after the lock down has finished). Anyway welcome  :001:

That is a CBF 1000-Ax SC58 with the (de-tuned) SC57 engine or, a MKI ABS model as it is known on here.

Generally manufactured, on sale and being registered from 2006 to 2010 (some late in 2011 & 2012). For the exact year of manufacture check the 17 digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) found engraved on the right side of the steering head, engraved on a metal tag fixed to the left side of the frame in front of the cylinder head cover and in the V5 registration document.

Check the 4th to 8th digits which refer to the Honda model type "SC58" = MKI

Check the 10th digit which refers to the year of manufacture where 6 = 2006, 7 = 2007, 8 = 2008, 9 = 2009, A = 2010, B = 2011 and C = 2012
