Everyone - What Tyres do you have on your CBF1000

i'm on my 3rd front and 5th rear roadtec 01's love them, i always look  at the alternatives when i come to get new tyres but keep settling on the 01's never had a problem wet or dry, rear is usually totally shot by 6k.

For me a tyre needs to be judged on its handling and cost. I'm riding with Bridgestone BT-023's only because that's what the motorcycle came with and the handling was excellent all year, rain or shine, even when the rear punctured it followed the front through some fairly tight bends with less than 15 psi keeping it on the rim. That rear has just started showing signs of squaring off after 8,615 miles, and it still has a good 5 mm of tread left on it which means it should be good for another 3,000 miles before its properly squared off and replaced. The bottom line for costs are favourable too, the numbers for my last pair of tyres are:

BT-023 120/70 ZR17 front cost £74.59 fitted and covered 12,428 miles before being replaced which works out at £6 per 1,000 miles.
BT-023 160/60 ZR17 rear cost £102.50 fitted and covered 9,717 miles before being replaced, which works out at £10.55 per 1,000 miles.

I'm happy at that.

My priority when buying motorcycle tyres has always been their wet weather grip. Any modern tyre is fine in my experience in the dry, but safety margins get smaller in the wet and an unexpected hazard might push a tyre beyond its wet weather grip. Hence Michelin buying PR2/3/4/5s as they developed. No idea what the 6s a like but I'd be surprised if they aren't better. My life is more important than the tyre's life!

However if you have confidence in the tyre you have fitted, that is 90% of the answer. ( I changed the new tyres fitted to my BMW F800GT within a couple of hundred miles as I had no confidence in them. Expensive but so satisfying!)

I agree, and did exactly the same, changed the tyres within 200 miles as I did not get on with the originals. And also, as you say, any modern tyre will out preform 99% of riders in the dry, the modern compounds are just so good.

 It’s the tyres ability to heat up and stay warm while moving water away defines a really good tyre in the wet. I love the Avon Storm 3D, and have fitted them on my last 4 bikes. They have a nice predictable profile so not too peeky like a full on sports tyre.  My Z1000SX was a tyre shredder, but the Avons took it all in its stride, and enhanced what was already an excellent handling bike.

I’ve not tried the Michelin’s but I’d fully expect them to be excellent, as they seem to be the go to tyre for most people today. My mate has them on his MT09, and he’s more than happy with them.

Having had Michelin Road 6 tyres on my bike now for a couple of months or so, I can say they are excellent. I've found myself getting the bike out of the garage more simply because they make the bike handle better! Apart from the odd shower however, I haven't ridden in any really wet weather, so can't claim any expertise on their performance there. But I'm pretty sure they will cope admirably.
