Touch up Paint Quasar Silver
« on: 11 October, 2019, 10:58:09 AM »
Does anyone know where I can get some touch up paint in aerosol form, Quasar Silver. NHA48 is the code.
had a look on Bay of Evil and I found the little touch up bottles, but I want a bit more than that.
Panniers have been rubbing Hugger and Swing Arm need removing and painting.
If there is a close match that someone knows about, I would be grateful.
Must be some somewhere every other CBF I see is Silver.

Thanks.

I know I bought a small aerosol tin of Quasar Silver from a specialist paint supplier for my MkI many years ago. I will have a root in the garage tomorrow and see if I can find it.  :169:

Found it!

It's a 400ml tin from Bike Colours Motorcycle Refinishing Products.

It is only part used: there seems to be a fair bit left, certainly enough for a hugger. You would be very welcome to have it FOC, but I can't post it as neither the Post Office nor Hermes will transport pressurised containers. Do you ever venture northwards? I live in N Cheshire/South Manchester area, if you can collect it?

Maybe of interest I brush painted my swinging arm with Hammerite 'direct to rust' Smooth Silver and to be fair I could have done a better job its not an easy finish to apply by brush and I was in a bit of a rush. The visual appearance while obviously different doesn't look too out of place mainly because it's away from the eye line and the plastic panels. Also my hugger is black so it forms an eye line barrier. Colour wise the original Quasar Silver is a dull greyish silver and the Hammerite Smooth Silver is a bright silver grey that is probably just a little too bright.

Future plan is to to remove the swinging arm and do a better paint job together with the front forks. First attempt will be another application by bush because that's what's on the shelf, if unsatisfactory I can always rub down for a final rattle can coat.

Thanks for that Chubbybear, getting to the time of year that my mates and I don't venture too far, Newcastle U Lyme is as far as we go and it has to be fine.
Also I have found a site that does the very product that I'm after about £30 for base coat and Laquer.
A kind chap on this Forum pointed me the right way (Thanks Moayling) R S Paints.

As usual this Forum has come up trumps.
