Took your advice Art and bled a good 250 ml of fluid through and all is good now.

mine also does it, other honda's i have dont, i changed oil and clutch fluid, still does it, bike has 6000 kilos on so isnt clutch, from what i have been told it is normal, i was  advised to hold in clutch for a few seconds before selecting 1st, this does work....

When the engines cold I always pull the clutch in and out twice and hold in for a couple of secs before engaging gear. Seems to help reduce the clunk.
