MK 1 Top Box Rack options
« on: 04 June, 2019, 05:31:10 PM »
I have an '09, with factory panniers and grab handles, no top box.  I would like to fit a top box plate (brand not important for now, a flat plate will work), and retain the nice red factory grab handles.  The Givi/Kappa top box brackets are not compatable with OEM pannier brackets (they say so, and I have verified), and the Givi rack that replaces the handles for 2010up also will not fit (I tried one yesterday).  The Shad bracket in this link looks like it has promise in concept, but I can't find it.  Another by the same product number again fits 2010 up and doesn't look like the photo in the ad...

As best I can determine there may be issues with that Shad not working with the OEM pannier racks either...... so, I gather I am limited to an OEM top box mount, which I am happy to explore if someone has one they want to sell, or I will have to fab up something on my own.  Wondering if the collective has any experience with top box racks and OEM pannier racks, would appreciate your expertise..

The genuine honda top box mount also replaces the nice grab rails.
