40 year old bikes

Hi all,
Does anyone know if imported 40 year old bikes (and cars) are still MOT and road tax exempt even if they were only registered with the DVLA in the last couple of years?
Happy New Year, Dave

If you have an age related plate issued by DVLA you should be able to register it as a historic vehicle and it will be exempt from tax and mot. You still have To go through the process of taxing it each year to prove that it’s insured but there is no cost involved. If it’s not insured it will have to be on SORN. If it has a Q plate where age is unconfirmed l think it has to be taxed and tested as usual.
I phoned DVLA last year on this subject and found them surprisingly helpful.

Cheers Moayling, the age related plate makes sense. I fancy a Kawasaki 1970's Z series bike, I used to ride them back then and there's some nice US imports for sale. Still keeping the Biffer though.
