Didn’t miss much this year........18 days away and we had to put our waterproofs on for ALMOST the whole of...........one day!  :001:

We had yet another fantastic Spanish trip. Hoping to go again in May 2019.  :028:

Ha Ha.....you think you are funny....bah.
mind you last year's trip to ST Petersburg was exceptionally great except for the two days in Sweeden when we experienced rain....So I cant really complain.

Family health issues have prevented me from going to Europe this year.....Hopefully 2019 may be more kind to me. The plan is for Northern France through Strasbourg to Switzeland, Austria, Solevenia, Croatia and back through Southern France before returning to the UK. We will see.
I might be mad or even slightly insane....but I LOVE my CBF1000GT

Ferry and all Hotels / Apartments booked.  :001:

Going Plymouth to Santander. First day going along the coast to Gijon, then following 'The Ruta De La Plata' south, staying in Leon (2 nights), Salamanca, Caceres, Seville (3 nights), Cadiz (2 nights). Returning north via Villanueva del Rey, Ciudad Real (2 nights), Oropesa, Valladolid (2 nights) and back to Santander.

Haven't finalised the full route yet, so not sure of total mileage. Nasty shock with the ferry price  :005:, went up £50 between checking quotes and final booking!  :232:

Happy to pass on prices etc if anyone is interested in planning their own trip. This is our main holiday of the year, so we don't tend to go budget with the accommodation. However, we've been able to get some great deals.  :001:

Roll on May.  :028:

Pont-Aven caught fire on 29th April and is still being repaired in Brest!

In 2016 it broke down causing us to change our plans, resulting in us having to ride down through France to Spain.

We’re due to travel this Sunday (12th), but haven’t been given any information from Brittany Ferries. They’ve cancelled crossings up until today, but haven’t said when they will resume.  :110:

Got fingers and toes crossed!  :003:

Hope you have a great time. When you get to Caceres, check to see whether you are lucky enough to be there on a night when there is free music in the main square. We were there on a night when  there was a classical concert and it was fantastic with the stage lighting supplementing the normal scenic lighting of the Moorish/Roman towers and walls - we even enjoyed the music! They put rows of seats in the square but you could also sit in one of the restaurants bars in the square and hear and view the event whilst eating/drinking.

Thanks for the tip Dave, but we won’t know until tomorrow whether or not we’re going. Brittany Ferries haven’t notified us, so I sent them an email, which states they are not sure if the ship will be back in service by our departure date. :003:

If the ferry isn’t repaired in time we’re not doing the 700 miles down through France again.  :110:

We did that in 2016 when the same ship broke down, and although we like touring France, long motorway days are just not our thing.

Is there an alternative from Portsmouth to Santander or do they use the same ship

Different ships but that route is full from people transferring from the Plymouth cancellations........that’s if there’s any spaces.

The knock on effect is also causing problems on the Roscoff and Irish routes. :003:
