A big plus for CBF1000 owners is the ease in which it can be serviced and maintained at home by the home mechanic without the need of any special tools or diagnostic equipment. If you’re allowed spanners and you haven't already, you may want to download the Honda Workshop and Owners Manuals here. The FUEL SYSTEM (PGM-FI) section should prove an interesting read and explains fully how to troubleshoot, test and diagnose fuel system faults including the fuel pump. After testing the fuel system if the fuel pump has been proven to be faulty don't waste your hard earned on a reassuringly expensive Honda pump when after market pattern pumps are just as good, readily available and at reasonable cost.

This YouTube video should give you an idea of what to expect, don't worry that the star of the show is a CBR600, Honda motorcycle PGM-FI fuel system components are, if not the exact same, very similar and mostly interchangeable.

:046: thank you Art, very helpful!
I’ve managed to take mine apart, clean and replace the pump with an aftermarket version today. Just waiting for a new base gasket and I will see if I was successful!

Handled with care the base gasket should be good for several uses.

Unfortunately Art my bike stood for 2 years outside uncovered (long story) so the fuel has buggered the pump and coated everything in the tank with a thick varnish. The gasket has stiffened considerably so a new one seemed the best option.

I'll go along with that, if in doubt replace especially when any fuel leak may not be immediately evident until a good bit of fuel has leaked.
