Guys, and chance someone can post a video showing how they are connecting to ECU port? On my 2011 CBF1000 it is somewhat taped I think and access seems impossible without lifting the fairing / tank.

Thank you for your video. As you said it is great for future generations of Honda owners.  :028:

I actually had the same trouble with locating the little red DLC plug a few weeks ago - it was wrapped in black insulation tape (not much of the redness visible) and taped to one of the other cables. The service manual says you need to lift and support the fuel tank to have a better access to the plug, but this would require removing a few bits of fairings, etc.. And as we are all  ̶l̶a̶z̶y̶  "busy" people (except for a few gurus here on the forum :015:) we always strive to take shortcuts  :001:
Like yourself I managed to reach it without lifting the tank but this was an exercise of pain and patience  :015:

And today I found your video  :001:

    Hi all,

Newbie here but have been reading the forums like crazy over the past 10 days of buying/owning a 2008 CBf 1000 in Australia.
Also looking at purchasing the gear indicator, but waiting on delivery for new Delkevic exhaust and a battery monitor https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/200609174686

Just curious as to why Honda didn't incorporate the gear indicator at manufacture?

I will be back here when these parts turn up I'm sure  :031:

Gear indicators on motorbikes were not common at the beginning of the century. Also cruise controls and self-cancelling indicators.
I learned to count the gears when changing them, like a shooter who counts fired bullets to knows how many are still remaining in the magazine :)

I used to look for a 7th gear on my SC58, now by comparing RPM's against road speed I know if I'm in 6th. I still get caught out now and again looking for that elusive 7th but that's going to happen even with a gear indicator so, for now, I'll just be spending the hard earned on go go juice.

For now?? Well, yes for now because I've just succumbed to an onboard digital voltmeter for real time monitoring of the charging system  :169:

I installed this Chinese one today https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/195843043913.
It seemed to start off good and even went to second gear but I tried to reset it and it now won't go past 1st gear. Probably shouldn't have reset it....
As per the instructions I was waiting for the n then 2 to change to second gear but no luck.
Left a message with the ebay seller but will try again tomorrow.
    Just doesn't seem to reset
