Rear shock replacement
« on: 17 May, 2018, 03:08:06 AM »
Hi everyone!

New to this forum as I just picked up a cbf last week and need some answers!
I ride two up most of the time and during my first ride I noticed how soft the suspension was and even bottomed out a few times. We are average weight and the side cases were not loaded.  Someone hinted that a shock from another honda may fit perfectly in the cbf and provide way more adjustability and stiffness.
Maybe something like a shock from a cbr900 ?
If anyone has heard of this please let me know!

Thanks !!!

Hello JFE and welcome to the forum  :405:
You don't mention if you have a MK1 or a MK2?
Designed in Japan, assembled in Italy, fiddled with in Britain

If it's a MK1 I had the preload to max and still ground the centre stand.I've been looking around and a good replacement seems to be about £300. Not sure which is best yet but Hagon, YSS and Honda have been mentioned on the forum

If the bike is what we call the 'mk1' (twin exhaust), a new oem replacement shock might be good enough.
