New Tyre?
« on: 22 March, 2018, 07:36:16 PM »
I was checking my wifeís bike over when I found this damage to her rear tyre.

The cut is about 2mm deep in the main tread, but Iím looking at replacing it before we head off to Spain in May.

Had one similar a good while back, caused, I think, by a metal joining strip on the surface of a bridge - I remember seeing the bar and the jolt it caused running over it at circa 40mph.
I kept a very keen eye on mine but it never gave me any trouble until swapped much later (but I wasn't touring).

Shame to see a tyre with decent tread murdered ...
Only do it right - no bodging please.   Keeper of the failed stator list.   John.

Thereís no damage to the front tyre, so my guess is the front lifted something from the road, and the rear went over it.

Iím going back to the garage next week, let them take a look and Iíll mention possible fault with the tyre........but the net result will mean a new tyre. :028:
