Fuel Consumption - MKII
« on: 10 March, 2018, 12:15:42 PM »
Hi..  Due to a combination of illness, bad weather and crazy work schedule I have yet to take the bike I bought in early January (2014 MkII) out for a decent run..... finally the weather is starting to ease off a little so I am hoping to get out soon. Which brings me to the point of this topic....   how accurate is the fuel gauge and MPG readout?  My bike shows it as doing 12.7 miles per litre and unless my 1969 O level maths is rusty I get that to be approx 57 to the gallon.  Which seems unrealistically high given that I was lucky to get 40 MPG out of the Blackbird and if memory serves low 40's from the MK I Biffer I had some years ago .....   What real world figures do you guys get?
Machines were mice and men were lions, once upon a time....

Sounds right to me. :028:

I’ve got a 2012 MK2, fully loaded for touring (no pillion) I get that return, sometimes a little more.

I’m not heavy fisted on the throttle and I’ve always got my wife following me on her CBF600SA, so we’re happy to ride along at a leisurely pace.

a steady 1500 mile tour in Ireland last Summer + spirited run to and from the ferry at Cairnryan saw me average 54mpg on my mark 1. Only time I have kept a detailed eye on my petrol consumption.

On checking my 2012 CBF1000FA 3 times with original exhaust I was getting 58mpg.
Haven't ridden bike yet with Beowulf silencer just fitted but hope fuel consumption will not be any worse.

Around 47 MPG - roughly the same as a petrol Ford Focus. Of course, the Focus cann't out-accelerate a Ferrari......

My Mk2 does about 10.5/11 miles per litre, but I am not an economical rider. The fuel gauge bars are totally inaccurate. But the readout of fuel used seems very accurate. That's my view anyway.
