Spain 2018
on: 27 July, 2017, 07:28:04 PM
I know some of you are yet to get away this year, but the 2018 Brittany Ferries timetable is out.

For the third year running we're off to Spain. No idea of routes yet, but the earlier you book the better price you get.

Going out on 6th May, returning 23rd May, Plymouth to Santander.

2 bikes, 2 riders, 1 inside cabin each way...........714. 40 deposit (non refundable), balance to be paid in March 2018.

Just thought I'd post this info for anyone considering going to Spain next year.  :028:

Hi Phil
Thanks for the heads-up. I did enjoy my trip in May but somehow I don't think its going to happen again in 2018, at least not a long-ish tour. Maybe I'll have time to take in some of the UK - like a few days in wild Wales or perhaps mysterious East Anglia.

We weren't sure where we were going next year. However, due to the fact the price for the trip we did this year would have been over 400 more if we'd have booked near to our leaving dates. we've taken a 40 gamble for next year.

If our circumstances change between now and next March, we'll only loose 40. :028:

I noticed that the timetable was out, I'm going to pay the deposit next week for our 2018 trip to Spain, just go one way. I have yet to decide on a route, but will take in the Picos de europa, probably Palencia over night, Cuenca and Fuente De before going onto probably Valencia and up to Barcelona, cross into France, take in Toulouse, my wife wanted to visit last week, but didn't have time, Bordeaux and Versailsi, again she wanted to visit, but it was raining hard, and I was already soaked fed up lol. Here's to 2018.

This year was 17 days of dry, carefree, empty roads. Can't think why we want to go back again next year. :027:

A word of caution though........we were in Seville 3rd week of May and it was 42 degrees! Pick the right time to go otherwise it will be as unpleasant, in the heat, as it is when you get wet through.  :028:

I'm planning on the end of August / beginning of September 2018.

Seems that a popular option is doing the big outbound ferry crossing to northern Spain, and making the return journey through one of the shorter channel routes or even on the Chunnel.

Hot, hot, hot once you start heading south.

We were riding in our textiles with very little underneath and all vents and zips open. I would say that most of the time we were comfortable heading towards hot, whilst in the Seville area we were too hot. One day I had to cut 50 miles off our route due to the temperature. :028:

Average temperatures are definitely hotter in August, than in May when we went.

For those thinking of travelling via the same route, the price for our dates is already 70 more than when we booked. :005: :028:
