What was the gear that protected you well?
Just bought this summer jacket for > 25 degC days (77 degF) which has some protectors though, my brother said: dude this ain't simply good enough  :110:
Segura fresh
He insist to expend at least 500 euros for any kind of jacket no matter the weather or distance one ride.
After your story, his words begin to sound more sense.

Huge blow to moral Mark, glad you were able to walk (or hobble) away from it.

From the damage described you may be looking at another bike. Make sure you take as many of you salvageable extra's off it before it gets taken away........you might not see it again.  :028:

Hi Mark, sorry to hear about your accident. I have replied to your PM. Yes, I am still a solicitor dealing with these types of incidents. The best number to get me on is my mobile 0744 2011 690. I can then respond more quickly than a PM.
All the best,
John

Hi Mark

Not exactly the Worlds best birthday present other than it sounds as if you are fixable with some Germolene, a large box of Elastoplast and, of course, the Wire Brush and Dettol routine which you should be well versed with being an ex-squaddie.

Reading the damage to your bike, never mind you, you will almost certainly have an insurance claim and it could be a complex one if you take into account your injuries even if, as it would seem, this may be a 100% no fault claim against the third party.  I hope he was insured.

Regarding your personal injuries, whilst insurance companies are ALWAYS keen to handle personal injury claims you could do worse than having a chat FIRST with our very own independent specialist injury lawyer on here JohnBiker4.  He hasn't been on the site for nearly a year but I have dug out his current contact details http://www.jminjurylaw.com/    John (Measures) is an injury layer of vast experience and specialises in motorcycle accidents.

I earnestly suggest that you at least speak to him BEFORE you let an insurance company loose on a potential PI claim or send your insurers a copy of the video.

Your insurance company is right - do NOT post your video anywhere but not strictly for their given reason.  John will want to see it and that's OK.  Otherwise there is now't so queer as folk, including on occasion the police and the last thing you need is for others to start writing their version of events as to what the video shows which may prejudice your position - leave it to the experts to use in your favour (and in my view that may not be some junior legal exec working for a PI claim company on behalf of your insurer).

Chin up mate (if it's not too painful :015:).

Andy

p.s.  Blimey, the tom-tom's are beating loudly this morning, four posts while I was writing mine AND one from John Measures as well :028:.  Looks as if you were already in front of me - good decision :002:.

Thanks everyone, have left a voicemail and further pm for John.

Benetts have recommended their repair firm called 4th Dimension and after 20 minutes on the tinterweb not seen one good report. Benetts have also said one of their "solicitors" will call today.

Think I will hang fire until I've spoken to John. Would rather have someone recommended by you guys on the case.

Today is a "world of hurt and stiffness" kind of day. Took me four attempts to get out of bed but it was expected.

I'll fix. The injuries will heal.

I just want the bike sorting!!!

Cheers

Mark

Hi Mark,  that's terrible, so sorry to hear about your accident - only just seen your post.

What a crap birthday!  Like you said at least you survived though.  I've had several near misses on roundabouts in the last 2 weeks (2 yesterday) where car drivers have joined the roundabout right in front of me and I only avoided them by braking and having to give way to the b*stards.  And I'm convinced they actually saw me and thought 'bikes always go slow on roundabouts'...

Anyway glad to hear you're relatively OK,  despite the bumps and pain - wishing you a speedy recovery and take all the opiates they offer - times like this you'll need them mate!

All the best, Tim

Thanks everyone,

Have just spoken to John who I can't thank enough. He was literally walking out the door to go on holiday and stopped to call me.

I have asked him to deal with all aspects of my accident and I feel I'm in a very safe pair of hands.

Now I concentrate on stopping hurting!!

GWS Mark, that'll smart for a few more days yet.

If they suggest pinning that shoulder get it done as soon as.
