GPS Tracker - baterry flat

Dear All,

I have bought a cheap GPS tracker on ebay which has an operation voltage of 9 - 36vDC which is connectedesigned directly to the better your no built in battery. Since I have installed it. I have had 2 batteries flat, the last new yuasa original  battery was installeducated only a month ago :( Is it possible that such a small device is draining my biffer battery? If so, can you advise me on a tracker with built in battery that won't drain my biffer battery overnight. Thank you for your support:)

Before spending any money, why not put an ammeter in series with the tracker and see how much juice it is using. It may not be that.

How long has the bike stood before the battery was checked and found to be flat.

Like Alan wrote, just meassure the current consumed by the tracker and do the 'juise' calculation to compare with how many AH your battery has.

But be aware, that a GPS tracker specified to typically e.g. 3 mA, may very well go into a mode where it consumes much much more, especially if the reception and network conditions are poor.

Same here, i installed chineese tracker, which suck about 0.1-0.15 Amps when standby.
My battery got flat after 1,5 day without driving.
Now i build LVD device (low voltage disconnect) it should save my battery from running completely flat. and it will power up again when motor start spinning.

That's interesting (although the ideal is to only use suitable accessories, which don't draw excessive current when the bike's generator is not running) because I looked at those* before fitting my 'intelligent' 5 Volt USB outlet ( https://www.cbf1000.com/index.php?topic=18659.0 ) which cuts off when '12v' nominal input gets low.

They look very nice, but why not just power the GPS (and other devices) through a switched relay - when you turn the ignition off, all the devices turn off.

Maybe it depends on what the intended purpose of the 'Tracker' is? e.g., is it required to be functional when the bike is left 'parked'?
If so, perhaps an independent (of the bike's main battery) power supply is preferable, as per the original question "can you advise me on a tracker with built in battery that won't drain my biffer battery overnight."?

They promise 100 days on inbuilt battery. So with LVD device it should be never an issue with flat battery.

As of tracking im currently have previous model 103, it does its job perfectly apart from consuming tonns of current. And it have inbuilt battery which is enough for 8-10hrs.

That looks as though it will work with the ignition off so no bike battery drain. Nice find.
