H.I.S.S. Key Programming Cable
on: 20 May, 2016, 08:56:25 PM
Hi,  I've got 2 blank keys on order and watched You Tube vids on how to program the blank keys using the 'ghetto programming lead'.  Made the cable but the videos I've seen relate to other models (e.g. VFR) and the cable colours on the connector that goes to the ECU (crank position sensor) are different.  On mine there is a YELLOW lead and a YELLOW/WHITE one (and the wiring diagram in my Haynes manual confirms this) but I need to know which one connects to 12V (via the 100 ohm 1 Watt resistor of course) and which one connects to -VE on the battery. NO WAY am I going to 'take pot luck' or guess this because connecting 12V to the wrong pin on the ECU just ain't worth the risk and I'm not a gambling man lol.

Any ideas please; does anyone know FOR SURE???  If I can't find out I'll just have to shell out 20 for the Honda cable but seems a lot; already spent 48 on 2 blank keys...

Blank keys you can buy for either side of 5

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Key-Blank-Black-HONDA-CBR-600-900-929-954-1000-RR-F4-F4i-CBR1100XX-VFR800-CB400-/251120975748?hash=item3a77f9ff84:g:5H8AAOxyOMdS3eXj

you can take the transponder out of your key and place in the new key.

or

can't remember who he is but a member has the cable you are talking about and shares it among  members.

Cheers Robo, the keys I ordered have blank chips inside but I realise you can get them cheaper without and buy the blank ID46 chips separately but I chose to do it this way for some reason...
Just fitted that Ebay centrestand with help from a mate today. Job went ok apart from the banjo clips snapping off on both left and right exhaust mufflers... Luckily we improvised with jubilee clips

:435: guess what there's a thread about exhaust clamps too   :180:

just buy some exhaust clamps like these as they are stronger and last longer

LMAO

Those posts are good but they don't clarify whether to connect 12V to the yellow wire or yellow&white.  The CBR1000 video mentions yellow to 12V and I've found a thread on he CB900 Hornet that mentions a yellow and a white lead so I ASSUME that's quite similar to the CBF1000 but really need to find a specific one for my Biffer...

Hi SaturnV

I have been looking after AndyM's cable, (I've been meaning to PM you Andy - I will do over the weekend) and will look out the detailed instructions and if I can post them on here or, if for some reason I can't then if you PM me your email I will email them to you.

Regards

Andy
