Front suspension
« on: 24 May, 2007, 11:50:57 PM »
When  I use my frontbrakes very softly, everything is okÚ.
But when I try use them more intensely, I can hear and feel a tick
in the front suspension.
After releasing the brakes, I hear and feel the same tick again.
I went to my dealer, and he noticed it too, so I was sure that I was not dreaming.
He said that this was very normal because a few new models in the shop
made the same noises.
He said it was some kind of oil valve that was opeing and closing again.
Yeah, but I don't believe in Santa anymore, so now I"m asking you guys
(and girls).
Am I the only one here with a ticking front suspension and oil using
CBF 1000?

6300 km till now, never noticed something analogous - but hey you'll never know with this model  :008:  :008:

 :431: for the laugh but
He said that this was very normal because a few new models in the shop

I think most of enginners more and more are awkwardly situated with this bike - without knowing what happen - that's why we will hear all the more the magic expression " it's very normal " or equivalent expressions.

I think that's the main reason this bike is rather cheap.
The must be aware of all this problems.
I made two phonecalls to  Honda Belgium.
The first person said it was very normal, nothing to worry about :-(
The second one told me I should make contact with my dealer, because
it was the first time he ever heard of this issue, end it sure wasn't normal at all. He said the complete inner section of the suspension
had to be replaced. Who's the one I can believe?
"Happy with Honda"???? I don't think so anymore :172:

You'll never know untill you decide what to do - ask - they want to do  :261:
It's like doctors you ask two doctors about your problem you have 3 different answers.

"Happy with Honda"? I don't think so anymore

I've had knocking noise from the front end before, but I couldn't pin down where it was coming from, so I've stopped worrying about it.

At my first service the mechanic decided the head bearing needed adjusted though, even though I hadn't mentioned it.

If you put your bike on the center-stand and get someone to sit on the pillion seat, and then grab the bottom of the forks and pull backwards and forwards, can you feel any play? If so, the head bearings may be loose.

Probably not. My dealer made a short test, and he was sure it was
the suspension. Every time the suspension is going in en out again, whyle using the frontbrakes, you can hear (a rather hard noise)and also feel the click in the handlebars.
He wanted to change the suspension-oil, but then again he rather waited
what Honda had to say about this ( still waiting).
Meanwhile I had the opportunity to ride to other CBF 1000's.
None of them have this problem, so they don't have to come with the answer that "it's very normal".
I keep you informed.

The root of the word atomistic comes from CBF.  :mfrlol:
